Homemade Progress

Last post, I showed a preview of the homemade blaster I was creating. I thought I'd post some 3D pictures here to more clearly show what will be going on.
I've omitted the spring, catch, etc. There are just the basic parts - enough to show how it's going to work.
  • PVC sheath that fits perfectly around 1 1/4" PVC
  • 1 1/4" PVC plunger tube
  • PVC bushing cut/made to mate with the plunger tube. A wye shoved into the bushing should help alleviate any dead space concerns.
  • Plunger made mostly of thinwall PVC, with a skirt seal at the front. The spring goes inside the plunger.

At rest, the spring will push all parts to the front of the blaster. The blaster will be primed by physically pulling the plunger tube back, and the rear of the plunger will catch the trigger.

The PT is then pushed forward again to finish the priming motion; it will mate with the front bushing to provide an air seal.
In case anyone is interested, I'm using Tinkercad, a free online 3D drawing tool. It's certainly not the same as AutoCAD or other software that can be printed out/fed into a machine for making parts, but it's good for showing what you're doing!

Current Projects

My Nerf activity as of late has consisted of cleaning the basement and organizing everything. However, a few projects are still on the table, waiting for completion.

Dart Tag Furyfire - Panther Tank internals. Fits almost perfectly.

Buzz Bee Ultimate Vanquisher. I want to convert this CPS-like water gun into a shotgun and missile launcher. Use the existing water tanks to hold "cartridges", and have different settings on each of the three turret positions.

Finally, a homemade work in progress. The plunger tube moves back and forth for priming the blaster; hopefully with a bit of work this will be close to the length of the final product.

Rebooting the Blog

Evening, NIC! Buffdaddy here. I've been gone for far too long, and been to busy to both maintain this blog and to fulfill previous obligations to other Nerfers. I believe everything has finally been set straight, but for the foreseeable future I will not be taking contracts or selling items - I've had contracts disappear off the face of the earth without paying, and I've had sales that fell to the wayside that have required refunds (yes, life happens, but these things are still my responsibility).

With any luck, I can get things back up and running, and return to making a positive contribution to the NIC. See you soon!
